FCC Compliance

Radio and television broadcasting stations operate under the authority of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and are required to comply with the Rules & Regulations of the FCC. The Rules are specific with respect to technical operating parameters; the fencing and signing of towers; availability of station management to the community served; record keeping requirements for political advertising, etc.

Violators of the Rules may pay fines and potentially lose licenses as a result of careless station operation. Last year the FCC assessed $43 million in fines from broadcasters for Rules violations; costs that were entirely avoidable with due care and attention to detail. Unfortunately, many smaller station operators lack knowledge of the Rules or the personnel to implement them. Ignorance of the law, of course, is not a valid defense.
MAS provides an FCC Compliance Audit to alert you to potential Rules violations so they may be addressed and corrected before discovery by the FCC and resultant enforcement action.  Contact MAS today to schedule your audit.

More information about the FCC Rules and MAS Compliance Audits may be found on the sub-menus on this page.
